Heron Harpoon

Heron Harpoon

Description

A great blue heron harpoons a herring on the Charles River in Greater Boston. The Charles was one of the U.S.'s most polluted rivers from industry and sewage. A world-renowned, federally-enforced cleanup has remade the Charles into a wildlife refuge in the springtime, with a restored herring run which draws herons, gulls, cormorants, osprey and even bald eagles. But this success is at risk of being undone as the Trump administration is gutting the Clean Water Act.
