Between Sand and Surf

Bells Beach during pro competition practice. One of the most iconic surf breaks in the world, and on this day it was doing everything it's supposed to do. I was there as a visitor, camera in hand, taking in the whole spectacle. This young surfer caught my eye, walking alone to the water with that particular focus that blocks out everything else. Footprints marking the path between the chaos of the break and the stillness of the sand. My phone was all I had with me, but I had to get the shot.
