I take my camera to the river because there's always something worth photographing. A bird, a dragonfly, the light on the water. Sometimes it's the kid swimming. He didn't pose for this. He looked up at exactly the right moment. Getting a genuine expression from your own children is hard work. The second they know the camera is pointed at them, out comes the smile-that-isn't-a-smile. Catch them unaware, mid-swim, slightly annoyed? That's the real thing.
