Description

The conservation of the Japanese crane is a successful nature conservation project in Japan. The Japanese crane, once thought to be extinct, was rediscovered in the Kushiro Marsh in Hokkaido in 1924. Over approximately 100 years, its population recovered to about 1,900 by 2026.
