Uninvited Company

Description

Both images started as flower portraits. A ranunculus with chaotic colour variation. A deep purple opium poppy with a glaucous seed pod at its centre. Both shot in the studio, both intended to be entirely about the flower. Neither got the memo to the spiders. Two different flowers, two different spiders, the same situation: I thought I was photographing a flower, and something else had other ideas.
